BETI App Series

A series of apps designed to facilitate learning through play

Aimed at students in years 4-6, these apps each support an escape-room style game. By guiding players through the physical puzzles and mixing in some AR technology to interact with the physical objects, they enhance the overall immersiveness of the experience and knowledge of a particular subject. The games were usually based around history subjects such as world war 2 and the spanish armada, some of which I also aided development on the narrative and physical aspects of the game as well as development of the accompanying app.

Development

Unity C# | Vuforia Engine | Photshop & Illustrator

I lead the development of the series of apps that were built to facilitate the company's educational escape rooms.

The apps were mainly built for internal use - game sessions would be pre-booked by schools and we would manage the app during that session.

Using my knowledge of systems design and programming, I built tools that would accommodate the variety of games that we produced. Starting off as a solo developer within the company, I eventually built a small development team around me as our projects became more ambitious. This meant I was able to delegate tasks on the development of the app as well as some of the animation and graphic design work that I had also handled up until then.

Eventually we moved from deploying the apps via Testflight to Apple Business Manager which I helped to coordinate.
